If you want to breed Havanese but only want one dog full-time, we can help you set up a cooperative breeding program or Guardianship, where you keep either the mother (dam) or father (sire), and another family keeps the other. You get the breeding parents together when the dam is in heat, and otherwise each dog lives with his/her own family. The breeding agreement usually includes compensation for the stud service, and whether he is allowed to stud for other breeding Havanese females. If he is, STD testing for prospective mates is standard, and would be the responsibility of the family of the male Havanese.

Guardianship allows you to have a Havanese as your family pet, while still allowing him/her to breed and create beautiful, hypoallergenic Havanese puppies. The upfront cost of guardianship is significantly less than an outright purchase. As with any other pet, you are responsible for the care of the dog(s) in your household.
